What Is the Hearst Medical Recruitment Alliance?
Created in 2024 by the three key partners within the local medical structure, the Hearst Medical Recruitment Alliance is a physician recruitment and retention initiative aimed at shining a spotlight on the wonderful benefits of living and practicing medicine in the charming town of Hearst in Northeastern Ontario. Speaking as one unified voice, the founding members of the Alliance are:

-
Hearst Family Health Organization (FHO), also known as Hearst Physician Group or HearstDocs;
-
Équipe de santé familiale Nord-Aski Family Health Team;
-
Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst).

Together, we believe that our local health network offers a highly engaging and rewarding experience to any physician looking to practice medicine in a genuine rural setting. Where feelings of accomplishment meet quality of life on a daily basis. Indeed, the Hearst Medical Recruitment Alliance is the result of a true community collaboration. Alongside the local municipality, other health partners, and the wonderful residents of Hearst, we’re collectively building a healthcare community that’s as vibrant and welcoming as our town. To that end, our work doesn’t stop at recruitment. We’re equally dedicated to keeping our fantastic team of physicians happy and thriving, both personally and professionally. That’s why we provide them with a variety of fun and engaging activities, alongside strong advocacy efforts to ensure their needs and interests are always front and centre. From nature outings and fishing trips to cultural events, teaching commitments and professional development, we make sure our doctors feel valued and heard. Our ultimate goal being the betterment of our community and the improvement of patient experience.

The Hearst Medical Recruitment Alliance’s mission statement reflects those beliefs:
By creating a fulfilling medical work culture around a healthy lifestyle approach, we aim to bring together the required number of physicians within the Hearst health network needed to provide permanent access to primary care services for each of the community’s residents and to support the sustained delivery of the hospital’s acute care services.
